Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking highly motivated post-doctoral research fellows to join our team! We have open positions available throughout our many laboratories across campus.

Lab Focus/Specialty: Weaponizing the immune system by developing new immunotherapeutics for infectious diseases and cancer including CAR-T cells and novel biologics that enable antigen-specific T cell activation, expansion and differentiation and testing them on novel humanized mouse models. In addition we are using these novel biologics to identify which genes are activated by different costimulatory signals to determine what individual and combined costimulatory signals generate the most potent effector T cells. Lab Focus/Specialty: (A)Cell competition mechanisms-Cell competition is a process by which abnormal cells are eliminated during animal development and is thought to be important in aging and in cancer. Our group has used genetic approaches in fruit flies to identify molecular components of cell competition.A position is available for the molecular characterization of the cell competition pathway and its roles in development and disease using multidisciplinary molecular and genetic approaches. (B) Neural cell fate determination-Proneural bHLH transcription factors are master regulators of neural cell fate determination and differentiation and important components of neuronal reprogramming strategies. We are using genetic screens in Drosophila to identify novel regulators of proneural bHLH proteins. A position is available to characterize the molecular mechanisms using developmental genetic studies, whole-genome sequencing approaches, and protein biochemistry.

Department Name: Radiation Oncology (Two positions available)

Lab Focus/Specialty: (A)Cell Therapy U01- developing mitigating strategies against radiation injuries of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Currently there are no interventional options to mitigate radiation-induced GI injury and is often the dose limiting factor in curative radiation therapy of the abdominal malignancies. The focus of this project will be to use stem cell-based approaches to stimulate regeneration and induce recovery in irradiated tissue. These studies will employ flow cytometry, confocal imaging, lineage tracing, qRT-PCR, western blot and ELISA to measure organ dysfunction in response to radiation.

(B) TPOm U01-mechanisms of radiation injuries to normal tissue and endothelium, and develop therapeutic strategies to mitigate these injuries. We are using pharmacological and genetic approaches to define the role of vascular niche in radiation injury and recovery. These studies will explore various approaches such as flow cytometry, confocal imaging, lineage tracing, qRT-PCR, western blot, ELISA, metabolomics, SCPECT CT, and MRI to measure organ dysfunction in response to radiation.
