PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide academic support for K-8th grade students in all subjects with a concentration in Reading. The provided support will allow remediation opportunities based on small group student intervention plans. Assist with preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Candidates who are successful in this role should be able to build confidence, relationships, and encourage progress for students. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • 48 College hours or Associate Degree; OR
  • ESC 5 Paraprofessional Aide Certification
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of general duplicating equipment
  • Experience:

  • Some experience working with children, preferred
  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective instruments or work assignments.
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Help keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute.
  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by supervisor. Work with individual students or small groups.
  • Help supervise students throughout the school day both inside and outside of classroom. Supervision areas include lunchroom, bus, and playground.
  • Keep supervisor informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events assigned.

  • Copier, personal computer, typewriter, and audiovisual equipment
