Summary:

  • The Operational Testand Evaluation ( OT&E)Meteorologist will implement ACC/A3W MAJCOM weatherfunctional responsibilities for MAJCOM technical health and metricsresponsibilities, IAW AFI 15-114.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop,implement, and manage tactical and operational-level unit programs to monitorand evaluate the performance and accuracy of weather products and services.
  • Collectand analyze Weather Watch, Warning and Advisory (WWA) Verification (WARNER),Terminal Aerodrome Forecast Verification (TAFVER), Operational Verification(OPVER), Graphical Weather Prediction Verification (GRAPHVER) and ModelPrediction Verification (MODVER) metrics for ACC weather organizations.
  • Usemetrics to monitor, analyze and evaluate the performance and effectiveness ofACC tactical- operational-, and strategic-level weather operations.
  • Preparecommand-specific guidance to subordinate ACC weather units regarding metrics.
  • Performoperations research regarding the effectiveness of weather support at thetactical, operational, and strategic levels.
  • Basedon metrics data collected, prepare ACC/ using command requirements to the HQACC Weather Requirements Division (ACC/ASW) for program modifications toimplement automated methods to assist in the collection and analysis oftechnical health data IAW AFI 15-114.
  • Preparerecommendations for ACC/A3W that identify trends, deficiencies associated withorganizing, training or equipping weather forces, in addition to best practicesand improvement opportunities for specific ACC weather units.
  • Prepareconsolidated ACC monthly metrics reports to HAF/A3W and advice on ACC issuesthat may significantly affect the HAF/A3W’s responsibilities to assess thetechnical health of the weather career field. Consolidated ACC monthly metricsreports will be made available online and contain the following data:
  • WARNVER measuresof performance (MOP).
  • TAFVER, OPVER,GRAPHVER, and MODVER metrics.
  • Prepareguidance and provide technical assistance to ACC units for reporting, analysis,and exploitation of metrics data.
  • Assistwith coordination and development of ACC supplements to 15-seriespublications/guidance.
  • AssistACC/A3W staff members with other OT&E duties, e.g.management/administration, manpower/organization, policy/operations, missionsupport/weather integration, weather requirements, etc., as directed.

  • MinimumQualifications: (Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily.)
  • Associate’s Degree in MeteorologicalTechnology, Statistics, or related discipline.
  • Bachelor’sDegree in Meteorology or Statistics, desired.
  • 4+ years of military or civilianexperience in tactical and operational-level weather operations.
  • Specialized experience with variousmeteorological computer software and equipment.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of MicrosoftOffice suite, to include; Word and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonalcommunication and organizing skills to coordinate project activities withcontractors and Government representatives.
  • Ability to conduct fact finding forspecial projects and/or to respond timely to Government inquiries.
  • Ability to present and/or prepare oraland written briefings and reports to management officials.
  • Ability to effectively manageprojects and cross-train to ensure mission completion.
  • Must be capable of managingmultiple projects with time related constraints in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% asrequested by customer.
